Example: one physio sees 10 patients a day, 5 days a week. That is 50 notes. If each note drops from 8 to 4 minutes, that is about 3.3 h back each week, or 153 hours over 46 working weeks. At A$100 an hour, that time is worth about A$1,278 a month, against A$39 for 8 Scribe.

How the numbers work
- Notes each week = clinicians × consults each day × clinic days.
- Hours back each week = notes each week × minutes saved per note ÷ 60.
- Hours a year = hours each week × 46 working weeks.
- Value each month = hours a year × your hourly value ÷ 12.
- Net value = value each month − A$39 per clinician.
What published studies measured
A randomised trial of 238 doctors at UCLA, published in NEJM AI in 2025, found one AI scribe cut time in notes by 9.5% against usual care. The second scribe tested showed no significant change.
An observational study at Capio in Sweden, published by the vendor Tandem Health, reported time per note falling from 6.7 to 4.7 minutes, a 29% drop.
Both studies measured doctors. Physio notes follow fixed templates and often still need copying into Nookal or Cliniko, so your own timing matters more than either figure.

How is the time saved calculated?
Notes per week multiplied by the minutes saved on each note, divided by 60. Yearly hours use 46 working weeks. Monthly value is yearly hours multiplied by your hourly value, divided by 12.
